MTO School of Islamic Sufism ® Celebrates Eid al-Adha with Global Pilgrimage to Give Back to the Next Generation

July 31, 2020 – (Los Angeles, USA, London, UK) M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® School of Islamic Sufism®
celebrates one of the holiest days on the Islamic calendar, Eid al-Adha, by donating thousands of
essentials to low income youth-organizations, schools and families.

On this day, which is known as a time of pilgrimage, charity and community, as part of M.T.O.’s global COVID-19 Initiatives, all M.T.O. centers worldwide will be conducting similar donations in 35 cities throughout Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, France, Denmark, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand and the United States.

In London we will be visiting a number of hospitals and sharing care packages for the children of the nurses and doctors. Included in the packs will be face coverings for the children as well as a stamped postcard for children to share their thoughts on what they are most grateful for. We will be collecting these gratitude cards from children from all across and later sharing on our website.
“On this holiest of days, Muslims all around the world come together in celebration. This year, due to the ongoing COVID19 pandemic, Muslims worldwide were not able to observe the Hajj (Islamic
pilgrimage) or celebrate Eid al-Adha. With this in mind, bringing back hope and empowerment to the next generation is the best celebration of Eid. We are thankful for the opportunity to give back in this way.” – Ghonche Alavi, London

During this difficult time, many have been left with feelings of uncertainty and anxiety. Further still,
many children have witnessed their parents lose their livelihood, businesses, or jobs. The purpose of this initiative is to give children a sense of empowerment during this otherwise stressful period.
“With everything happening in the world at the moment, it seemed appropriate for us all to come
together as a global family and uplift the next generation that has to rebuild all that will be destroyed as a result of this pandemic.” – Davood Esfeh, Los Angeles

Since the start of the COVID19 pandemic, MTO volunteers from across the world have engaged in a
range of programs including making and delivering thousands of personal protective equipment
products for healthcare and senior center frontline professionals. These efforts have also included
large-scale food drives for homeless and low-income families. Furthermore, M.T.O. has been offering free daily Tamarkoz® meditation and relaxation Instagram Live sessions to help people around the globe cope with the current crisis.
