Session Discussion: 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

The M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® center in Columbus, Ohio has been a center for learning and service since its establishment in the fall of 1990. Offering regular weekly sessions open to the public, interested individuals from different cities in Ohio, such as Dayton, Cincinnati, Akron, and Cleveland, have attended these sessions since the center’s opening.

In addition to the main teaching sessions on Sufism, the center has also provided a diverse range of classes for students and other interested individuals, including Quran recitation, book reading, student discussions on teachings, Farsi reading and writing for beginners, Arabic grammar, and even crafts and knitting arts.

Moreover, during the global COVID-19 pandemic, the center’s students have actively supported their local communities on multiple occasions throughout the year. The aim of these activities was to provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and face shields to healthcare providers, care packages, food, clothing, and other essentials to hospitals, non-profit organizations, homeless shelters, and low-income residential communities.

The center has also been actively contributing to the protection of the environment and green sustainability, recognizing the importance of combating climate change. The students in Ohio have been involved in recycling plastic bags and old clothes, as well as planting trees to help preserve our planet’s future.
