On June 22, 2021, M.T.O. Vancouver celebrated World Rainforest Day by organizing a walk and plant-pulling activity in a local temperate rainforest. This was done in collaboration with the Cariboo Heights Forest Preservation Society, a local environmental organization introduced by MLA Kang’s Office. On their walk, volunteers learned about Cariboo Heights Forest, “one of the largest forests in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia” and discussed their roles as individuals and as a community in sustainability and helping to improve the state of the environment. After learning about the history of the forest, volunteers got to work in a hands-on activity, hand-pulling invasive plants.
