On July 6, 2019, members of the Columbus police force were invited to the Columbus center of M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® School of Islamic Sufism®. The purpose of this event was to introduce our school and to begin a dialogue with local police. Officer Khaled Bhagat, Chief Diversity Officer, attended as representative of the Columbus police. M.T.O. students presented two short talks: one on Sufism, and one on Peace and the concept of Jihad. Officer Bhagat spoke at length about his experience as Diversity Officer and as a patrolman with the police force. Zikr was presented and the members were welcomed to join in. We ended the evening with dinner and more discussion about diversity and Muslim communities in our area, as well as programs where members might volunteer, especially to assist with youth.
