On May 1, 2019, M.T.O. Sufi Association® was invited to give a presentation on Sufism and Islam at The Grauer School, a college preparatory school in San Diego, California. This presentation took place during the 9th grade students' World Religions class, in which they are currently learning about Islam. Students were very intrigued to learn about Sufism, as this was the first time which they were learning about this aspect of Islam. Topics such as Sufism, the Reality of Religion, Oneness of Existence, Unity of Religions, Science and Sufism, Tamarkoz®, and Art and Sufism were introduced and discussed. The students were also given the chance to take an active role in the discussions and ask and answer questions. There was a great deal of surprise and intrigue by the students and the teacher himself, as they heard about the teachings of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH): "Know thyself to know God" and “You be You", as well as a verse from the Holy Qur'an which states: "And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein” [50:16]. The visit ended by showing some of the art and architecture at the M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® Centers, and a clip of ZendehDelan®, which was expressed to be moving and emotional for some of the students. The pastor/teacher of the class also expressed interest to visit the local M.T.O. Center, and M.T.O. Sufi Association was invited to be a regular visitor for introducing Sufism and Islam at the school from here on.
