On October 14, 2017 the M.T.O. Sufi Association® participated in the Southern California Parliament of the World’s Religions (SCCPWR) 10th Anniversary event. SCCPWR is one of the premier interfaith organizations in Southern California, recognized by LA Mayor, Eric Garcetti, for its significant contributions to interfaith peace-building. The day consisted of discussions by a panel on the topic of “Harvesting Seeds of Peace: Interfaith - Past, Present and Future.” The audience was moved not only by the breadth and depth of the personal experiences shared, but also by the suggestions as to how we might expand and deepen the interfaith movement in the future, and how we can recognize the signposts of progress. The panel was then followed by a gala dinner, and musical presentations from various faiths, including zikr from M.T.O. Sufi Association. The attendees expressed how they wished the zikr would not end and that they felt very much comforted by music and energy that accompanied it. Other groups that presented were Japanese Taiko drummers, the Sikh group, the Christian Fellowship choir and Yuval Ron from the Jewish tradition.
