On May 3rd, 2015, Maktab Tarighat Oveyssi Shahmaghsoudi® in Dallas held an event titled "The Message of Peace". The distinguished guests included local dignitaries including high-ranking members of Frisco Police and Fire departments, board members of the neighborhood home owners association, university professors and students. Following an introduction to Sufism, the history of the school, and peace from the perspective of Sufism, attendees were invited to visit several exhibits which represented different aspects of Sufi teachings and their influence on culture and arts. The exhibits included inlaid woodwork (khatam kari), mirror work (ayeneh kari), Persian calligraphy, tazhib/miniature, and Persian rug making. The guests were genuinely interested in the teachings of Sufism and had ample time to explore and ask questions. Following the exhibit tour, the guests returned to the main hall for a brief demonstration of meditation followed by the harmony of zikr which was conducted in Persian and English. At the end of the program, the guests had an opportunity to further explore the exhibits while enjoying gourmet Iranian delicacies. The feedback from the visitors was overwhelmingly positive and some expressed interest in attending the regular weekly sessions.
